The Effect of Simulated Microgravity on Microbial Gene Expression

چکیده
of living in and adapting to a far larger range of environmental conditions than are normally encountered in the usual laboratory environments. Even with full knowledge of an organism’s gene content, it is currently impossible to predict how expression patterns will change in different situations. Thus, usual laboratory growth conditions may not invoke key aspects of an organism’s potential response. Such studies thereby may conceal behaviors that in a different environment may contribute to undesirable phenomena such as pathogenesis. One such case is the low-shear, lowturbulence environments present in utero, at the brush border microvilli of epithelial cells, and other medically important host environments. 1 Another example is the space environment characterized by microgravity and high background radiation. In this case, the absence of gravity also produces a low shear environment, which likely results in microorganisms having difficulty in removing themselves from immediate surroundings that have been nutrient depleted and have received waste products. 2

CD44 expression changes and increased apoptosis in MCF-7 cell line of breast cancer in simulated microgravity condition
Introduction: Studies have shown that simulated microgravity (SMG) affects tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. However, the underlying mechanism and its molecular basis are still not well known. In recent years, due to the role of CD44 in breast cancer and its high expression in invasive basal tumors, it has been the subject of extensive research. There is a conflicting data on the role of...
متن کاملSimulated Microgravity Condition Alters the Gene Expression of some ECM and Adhesive Molecules in Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are widely used for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The beneficial effects of ADSCs on wound healing have already been reported. Remodeling of extracellular matrix (ECM) is the most important physiological event during the wound healing. ECM is sensitive to mechanical stresses and the expression of its components can be therefore influenced. The ...
متن کاملEffect of Simulated Microgravity Conditions on Differentiation of Adipose Derived Stem Cells towards Fibroblasts Using Connective Tissue Growth Factor
Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells able to differentiating into a variety of mesenchymal tissues including osteoblasts, adipocytes and several other tissues. Objectives: Differentiation of MSCs into fibroblast cells in vitro is an attractive strategy to achieve fibroblast cell and use them for purposes such as regeneration medicine. The goal of this s...
متن کاملExpression pattern of neurotrophins and their receptors during neuronal differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells in simulated microgravity condition
Objective(s): Studies have confirmed that microgravity, as a mechanical factor, influences both differentiation and function of mesenchymal stem cells. Here we investigated the effects of simulated microgravity on neural differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). Materials and Methods:We have used a fast rotating clinostat (clinorotation) to simulate microgravity condition. R...
متن کاملکاهش بیان ژنهای Tie1 و VCAM-1 در شرایط بیوزنی: استراتژی جدید برای مطالعه و درمان بیماری تصلبشرائین
Introduction: VCAM-1 and Tie1 are endothelial molecule and receptor, respectively that may participate in atherosclerosis disease. Endothelial cells are very sensitive to mechanical forces, including microgravity and the morphological and functional changes in this condition. To examine the effect of gravity on atherosclerosis disease, we analyzed the expression of VCAM-1 and Tie1 genes in micr...
متن کاملSimulated Microgravity Exerts an Age-Dependent Effect on the Differentiation of Cardiovascular Progenitors Isolated from the Human Heart
Microgravity has a profound effect on cardiovascular function, however, little is known about the impact of microgravity on progenitors that reside within the heart. We investigated the effect of simulated microgravity exposure on progenitors isolated from the neonatal and adult human heart by quantifying changes in functional parameters, gene expression and protein levels after 6-7 days of 2D ...
